Please pray for Angelina’s school application

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

The time has come for Angelina to start school in Sweden, as we do not live in the right neighbourhood where the corps is she will have trouble getting in to the same school as her friends from pre-school.

Please pray that the impossible becomes possible for Angelina and that she will be allowed to go to the school that is around the corner from the corps.

Apologetics study bible

The Apologetics Study Bible The Apologetics Study Bible by Norm Geisler

My rating: 1 of 5 stars
This Study Bible while filled with a lot of amazing facts is a very biased book, it promotes a very specific strain of theology and therefore, in my opinion is a poor study bible for the serious bible student or scholar.

Beta testing bumptop

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

A lot of geeky posts right now, for that I appologize. But beta testing is fun. It is even more fun when people are doing old things in new and exciting ways.

I have had my eyes on bumptop for quite a while. And now the mac alpha version has come out and I have been asked to “beta” test. It is a new way of doing “desktop” it treats your desktop as an actual desktop where you can organize files and folders in piles, you can scoot things around on the surface and they slide over your desktop…. What I wouldn’t give for a touch screen right now ……

Nobody wants a google wave invite?!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Yesterday I posted about my 6 remaining Google wave invites. So far I have not had a single reply. I make one more try. I am looking for people interested in the emergent comversation or churchplanting. If I can find none, then I will randomly select people randomly from my adress book. If you want an invite comment here and add me on tumblr or twitter. I will give out at least one random invite.

Google wave invites

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I have now received some invites for google wave. This has been something I have been longing for as the wave is quite boring until you have people to collaborate with.

However, it is proving harder than I thought to choose who to invite. Therefore I will extend invites to people who can be beneficial to me, Hanna and the Malmö corps. We are in the starting phase of replanting the corps. We are a NEO (New Expression Of the Salvation Army) and rapidly becoming part of the hyphenated church ie. Salvo-emergent.

If you are a person who wants to have theological discussions, and you think you can come with insight and ideas regarding emergence, Salvation Army and or planting let me know by a comment below, and sign up to follow either my twitter or tumbler feed and I will consider you for one of my six remaining invites. In the end I will also randomly select one person to receive an invite so even if you do not fit the description below.

The only other condition to this is that if you get an invite from me, please consider giving one of your invites to someone who commented below and did not get one.

Beta testing

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I have done some beta testing in the past, mostly games (Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft) but now I am having loads of fun beta testing some other stuff.

Google Wave

So I finally got a google wave invite. Wave looks very promising but it is extremely booring. Having a wave account and no invites to give out proves to be challenging. Being alone on a service that is designed for collaborative work is well not very productive. I can’t wait until google wave is as well used as gmail.

Accordance - Svenska folk bibeln

Last night I was asked to try out the a new accordance module with ‘Svenska Folk Bibeln’ (Swedish Folk Bible). The Bible translation that I have been using the most and desperately need for my sermon and bible study prep.

Honoured and very tickled to be asked personally by the accordance staff I naturally accepted.

Voddler

My ISP – Bredbandsbolaget are offering all their customers free beta accounts at Voddler, an internet movie service much like spotify but with movies instead. I am amazed at how right away after creating my account I was streaming a HD movie without a single hiccup.

Voddler have received a lot of criticism, but I wonder if it is not just a great service in it’s infancy. well we shall see. It is going to be fun trying it out though.

Preparations for Boston

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

In the midst of our essay madness, apartment hunting and the girls getting ill it is time for another trip. I thought that Rent-A-Don was going to be my only Longsword event this year but as it turns out I will be going to another one.

When asked to come to the get together in Boston I politely declined as there was no way I could afford going (still being on minus from Rent-a-Don) but promptly received this email:

Dear Patrik-

The Schola Saint George Metro Boston study group, assisted by members of SSG San Francisco Bay Area and SSG Central New Jersey, requests your acceptance of our invitation to the 2009 East Coast Get Together. Would the following flight times work for you?

We would also like to offer you the hospitality of our house and table during your time here, and of course we will arrange transportation to and from the airport.

Please let me know and your tickets will be forthcoming.

I.e., you’re *going* to the ball, Cinderella! ;^)

And how could I refuse such a generous gesture. So here I am in the middle of this madness trying to prepare for my next testing, frantically trying to make sense of Fiore’s Zogo Stretto plays and fixing my kit so that it is in top shape for another mad weekend. On Friday I fly to Boston only to return on Monday morning for a full day of mission.

I figure that such a great display of generosity cannot go unnoticed. So let it be known that within the Schola Saint George Chivalry is alive and well. Charles Deily and Colin Hatcher (the most likely suspects for such a mighty deed of generosity) will be renowned for their great generosity.

Prayers needed

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

We are moving to Malmö (as most of you know) and as it is we still have no place to live. We are looking for a place close to the corps as we are hoping to plant a new corps parallel with the old one in that building.

It is not easy to find a place to live and even harder to find day care for the children (especially when you do not know where you will live) and so we need massive prayers mobilised now!

We are supposed to take up our post in Malmö in less than two months from now and by human standards this is quite impossible but as the good book tells us, nothing is impossible with God!

We are also seeking God for vision and guidance in our upcoming endeavour in Malmö, please pray for us and if God gives you anything for us please pass it on.

For our time in Sweden and for the start of our officership we need a stable prayer and accountability network if you want to be a part of this please send me an email or leave a comment here!

Update

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

This blog has faded some as I have been concentrating on writing in Swedish over at the awakening heart (Need to brush up my Swedish for the upcoming move).

We have now been in England for 18 months and will be returning to Sweden in August. We have been waiting for some time to receive our appointment and being told where to go.

Yesterday we received the news that on Saturday we will sit down with our chief secretary who will give us a proposal. What we did not expect was that we will be given time to respond to this proposal with a yes or a no.

So now we are excited and scared witless. It is great wonderful and frightening, the great adventure is about to start.

So now we need prayer! Pray that God prepares our hearts for the proposal we will be given on Saturday. But also pray that God will give us the discernment to know that this is the will of God and also strength and courage to say no if we feel that it is not right.
